Her musical journey led her to the California Jazz Conservatory, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Studies, refining her vocal technique and deepening her passion for improvisation.
Beyond her musical pursuits, Susana is deeply committed to arts education, particularly in nurturing creativity among children. From the age of 12, she taught various craft techniques in her mother's arts and crafts store in Colombia, fostering a lifelong dedication to teaching. Her technical high school education in applied arts and design further solidified her foundation in the visual arts.
In Los Angeles, Susana co-developed the "Mindfulness through the Arts" program at Seven Arrows Elementary School, integrating mindfulness practices with artistic expression to cultivate balance, connection, and joy among students. Her workshops emphasize the exploration of art, nature, and mindfulness, encouraging children to connect with their creativity while appreciating the world around them.

Nicolas Maldonado is a California based saxophonist, composer, and arranger whose work explores the intersection of acoustic and electronic sound. Performing on tenor and soprano saxophones, he integrates live electronics to shape spontaneous compositions within evolving sonic landscapes. His music blurs the lines between structured form and open improvisation, creating immersive textures that fuse jazz, experimental music, and electronic manipulation.
Nicolas has performed alongside esteemed artists such as Bennie Maupin, Les McCann, and Nicole Mitchell. In 2015, he was selected for the Catalina Jazz Young Artist Series. He leads the chamber-jazz ensemble Glass Bead, which released its debut EP in 2019, followed by the "Dayspring" EP in 2020. His recent project, "Affinity," is a collaborative album with vocalist Susana Pineda, released in March 2024.

Farmer Dave Scher is a California based musician, composer, and sound healer renowned for his innovative contributions to the music scene. As a multi-instrumentalist, he has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including Elvis Costello, Interpol, Animal Collective, and Jenny Lewis. His distinctive lap steel guitar and keyboard playing have been integral to bands such as Beachwood Sparks, All Night Radio, and The Skiffle Players.
Currently, Farmer Dave leads "Farmer Dave & the Wizards of the West" (FDWOW), a cosmic West Coast soul group known for its lush sound and dynamic performances. The band features six singers, two drummers, an electronic drummer/percussionist, two guitarists, a bassist, and Farmer Dave himself on keys, lap steel guitar, and melodica.

June is a beautiful time to visit Kaua’i with highs around 83°F (28°C) and lows around 74°F (23°C). It is generally a drier month with lower chances of rain compared to the winter months.
Clothing & General Needs:
1. Lightweight clothing for warm weather with breathable fabrics like shorts, T-shirts, and sundresses.
2. Swimwear & beach towel for enjoying Kaua‘i’s stunning beaches and ocean adventures.
3. Sandals and/or comfortable shoes for exploring or hiking.
4. A sun hat – and if you use it, sun protection that does not include chemicals such as oxybenzone and octinoxate (which are banned in Hawai’i and not good for us anyway!) – we recommend Living Libations if you’re looking for a holistic brand.
5. Light layers – evenings can be cooler, so bring a light jacket or sweater.

DIY Camping Needs:
1. Tent and stakes if needed for comfort and shelter.

3. Lighting – a headlamp or flashlight and anything you’d like for your space such as solar fairy lights or a solar lantern, etc.
4. Reusable water bottle.
5. Travel mug, plate, bowl & utensils – for coffee, tea, and meals.
6. Cooler & ice packs – if bringing perishable snacks or drinks.
7. Any snacks or breakfast items you prefer – lunch & dinner are family style, breakfast is BYO.
8. Biodegradable soap & sponge if needed, for easy cleanup.

Our Kaua’i home for the weekend will be near Kalalea Mountain and Anahola.Lihue Airport is the primary airport on the Island of Kauai and our location is about 25 minutes away.
If you prefer a direct flight to Kauai, several airports offer non-stop service to Lihue Airport:

Camping is DIY (please read our ‘what to pack’ section above) and spaces are first come, however there is plenty of space for everyone
